I was fortunate enough to receive tickets to the steel house festival in 2015. It was held on the 24th and 25th of July. It was held on a mountain in Aberbeeg, and once we were up there we could see the sky, smell the grass and hear the music.
As soon as we arrived, a band was playing (Henry’s funeral shoe) and quite a few people were there already. The stalls were open, selling anything from burgers to pancakes. We mingled into the crowd, and caught a small piece of trucker Diablo. We progressed into the VIP area, where we could hear everything loud and clear. Several bands played, including one called “The treatment”, of whom I thought were particularly good. Other bands there included FM, and Doro. I thought Doro was amazing.
We met up with some of my dad’s friends (some who were, particularly interesting) and got to know some of them too. It was quite weird at how many drunken people had fell over, but that was ok. Meanwhile, in the VIP area, we met up with some of the bands, took photos and experienced several interviews.
Eventually, the headline bands began to play. This array included UFO, Tyketto, Dee Snider and Y&T. Because of the pass I received, I was able to go into the photo pit and take photos right up close. It was really muddy in there, and even muddier outside. It had rained the night before, but people still enjoyed getting drenched and falling in the mud.
On the second day, there weren’t as many people, because it was raining, And muddy, as mentioned previously. On the last day, Dee snider performed, and luckily for me, I got some amazing pictures. Some girls in the audience, about the same age as me, were fascinated and said “How did you get in there? That’s so cool!” It was cool, but very loud.
The whole event was held on a weekend, and some of it was held on Friday night too. Overall, I really enjoyed the steel house festival, and was extremely grateful for my tickets. The atmosphere was great, and so was the music. But to sum everything up, here are some more pictures!
