Llenyddiaeth Cymru / Literature Wales

Llenyddiaeth Cymru (gynt Academi) yw'r Cwmni Cenedlaethol gyda chyfrifioldeb dros ddatblygu llenyddiaeth yng Nghymru. Mae Llenyddiaeth Cymru yn cynnwys Yr Academi Gymreig – y gymdeithas llenorion, a Chanolfan Ysgrifennu TÅ· Newydd.

Mae Llenyddiaeth Cymru yn gallu helpu pobl gyda chostau annog ysgrifenwyr creadigol i weithio mewn bob math o sefydliadau ieuenctid a chymunedol. Gall helpu ddarganfod awduron sydd yn ysgrifennu yng Nghymraeg, Saesneg ac ieithoedd eraill Cymru.

Mae Llenyddiaeth Cymru yn rhedeg Sgwadiau 'Sgwennu'r Ifainc mewn cydweithrediad ag awdurdodau lleol Cymru. Mae Sgwadiau 'Sgwennu yn gweithio yn yr un modd ̢ th̨m chwaraeon sirol. Nod y Sgwadiau yw dod o hyd i ysgrifenwyr disglair ym mhob rhanbarth Рboed hynny trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg neu'r Saesneg Рa'u cyflwyno i rai o brif awduron a thiwtoriaid ysgrifennu creadigol Cymru.

Fel rheol, gofynnir i brifathrawon yr awdurdodau lleol i enwebu plant 9 i 10 oed sy'n dangos addewid yn eu gwaith creadigol, yna bydd ymgynghorwyr addysg yn gwneud y dewisiadau terfynol. Mae'r sgwad yn cwrdd oddeutu dair neu bedair waith y flwyddyn (fel rheol ar ddydd Sadwrn) ac yn derbyn sesiynau hyfforddi gan lenorion sydd â'r sgiliau cyfathrebu angenrheidiol i weithio gyda'r ifainc. Gobeithir wedyn cadw'r Sgwad honno gyda'i gilydd hyd ddiwedd eu dyddiau ysgol.

Os wyt ti'n awdur awyddus, rhwng 9 a 16 oed, gofynna i athro am dy Sgwad 'Sgwennu lleol. Os nad oes Sgwad yn dy ardal di cysyllta â Llenyddiaeth Cymru i sefydlu un. Am wybodaeth bellach am y Sgwadiau, gan gynnwys rhai yng Nghaerdydd, ymwela â www.sgwadiausgwennu.org

Literature Wales (formerly Academi) is the National Company for the development of literature in Wales. Literature Wales includes Yr Academi Gymreig / The Welsh Academy – the national Society of Writers in Wales, and TÅ· Newydd Writers Centre.

Literature Wales can help with the costs of encouraging creative writers to work in a whole range of youth and community organisations. They can help locate writers to work in Welsh, English and other languages of Wales.

Literature Wales runs the Young People's Writing Squads in association with the local authorities in Wales. Writing Squads work much in the same way as county sports teams. The Squads aim to locate gifted writers – in both English and Welsh – in each authority region and introduce them to some of Wales' leading writers, and teachers of writing.

Young People's Writing Squads welcome selected children whose creative writing shows particular ability and promise. Usually this selection has been made by the age of 9 or 10, with head teachers in each authority identifying keen and gifted young writers. Advisors conduct the final selections and each Squad meets on average three or four times a year (usually on Saturdays) for special training sessions with outstanding writers who have the necessary communication skills to work with the young writers. The aim is to keep each Squad together until the end of their schooldays.

If you are a keen writer, aged between 9-16, ask your teacher about your local Writing Squad. If there isn't already a Squad in your area, contact Academi about setting one up. For more information about the Squads, including the ones in Cardiff, visit www.writingsquads.org
